See Tyvek on Sunday Night

January 14th, 2011

The lo-fi quartet Tyvek formed more than five years ago in Detroit. They take their name from a high-density synthetic fiber by DuPont (like what Devo wears), but their sound comes straight out of the garage—with a twist of punk. They’d released several singles and EPs over the years before putting out their well-received self-titled debut LP in 2009. A second disc, Nothing Fits, followed just a few months ago, and now Tyvek (above, doing “Nothing Fits”) plays Mercury Lounge on Sunday night. So head to Houston Street to keep your three-day weekend going.
