Winter Gloves and Young Galaxy at Mercury Lounge

March 17th, 2011

Sometimes positive feedback goes a long way. In this case, Charles F. recorded a bunch of synth-pop songs that he really didn’t expect to see the light of day other than posting them on his MySpace page. But when enough people liked the new tunes, he figured he ought to get a band together: Vincent Chalifour on synth bass and keys, Nico Ormiston on guitar and Patrick Sayers on drums to go along with Charles F. on vocals and organ. The group became Winter Gloves, and their first EP, Let Me Drive, was a thrown release, meaning they threw the discs into the crowd at their shows. A full-length, About a Girl, came out in 2008 and a second LP, All Red, was released last year. And now you can see Winter Gloves (above, playing “Factories” and “Plastic Sides”) with another Canadian group, Young Galaxy, at Mercury Lounge tomorrow night.
