Balkan Beat Box Plays Webster Hall

April 22nd, 2011

Ori Kaplan, formerly in Gogol Bordello, and Tamir Muskat, of Firewater, were born in Israel and met in Brooklyn. They were united by a love of music, and playing together—as Balkan Beat Box—they blend Balkan, klezmer and Mediterranean sounds with dub, electronica and hip-hop. The duo, joined by a rotating group of musicians, has put out three albums since 2005, the most recent of which is last year’s Blue Eyed Black Boy. And you just might hear some of it when Balkan Beat Box (above, performing “Hermetico”) plays Webster Hall next Tuesday.
