Double Your Pleasure with Two Nights of Wildbirds & Peacedrums

June 2nd, 2011

Mariam Wallentin and Andreas Werliin met while attending the University of Gothenburg where each was studying musical improvisation. Sure, it could’ve been a chance meeting, but instead they married and formed Wildbirds & Peacedrums in 2006. The band is just a duo, but with Werliin’s drums, percussion and electronic samples combined with Wallentin’s vocals and strings, the Swedish twosome makes a whole lot of joyful noise. The band hit our shores for a tour back in 2008 and now they’re back, bringing their bluesy freak-folk experimental music to Mercury Lounge on Friday night and Music Hall of Williamsburg on Saturday. Check out Wildbirds & Peacedrums playing “Places,” above, and then go see them in person.
