Hanni El Khatib Plays Mercury Lounge Tomorrow Night

June 24th, 2011

Hanni El Khatib grew up obsessed with ’50s and ’60s pop culture, which led to a keen interest in the blues and garage rock of that time. As a talented one-man band, the multi-instrumentalist writes, produces and sings his own songs. So far, he’s only released two singles, but a debut album, Will the Guns Come Out, is due later this year. In the meantime, an opening slot for Florence and the Machine and appearances at SXSW and Bonnaroo have won El Khatib (who performs live with drummer Nicky Fleming-Yaryan, a high school friend) raves and some pretty nice comparisons to Jack White and the Black Keys. See why when Hanni El Khatib (above, performing “I Got a Thing” for The Daily Habit) plays Mercury Lounge tomorrow night.
