Harper Blynn on Saturday Night

July 8th, 2011

Pete Harper and J. Blynn met in college and started writing songs and performing together as Pete and J. Eventually, they began to build a following in New York City. And although things were progressing nicely, as the duo began to write more upbeat material, Harper and Blynn felt they needed a bigger band. So the twosome multiplied, becoming the four-piece Harper Blynn (above, playing “This Is It”). The group’s debut LP, Loneliest Generation, is packed with three-part harmonies and minimalistic, catchy pop. And the Brooklyn band has used its considerable time on the road to ramp up its stage presence, which you can see for yourself when Harper Blynn, Elizabeth & the Catapult and the Bandana Splits play Mercury Lounge tomorrow night.
