Check Out BoomBox Tomorrow Night at The Bowery Ballroom

August 16th, 2011

BoomBox, a two-man rock band out of Muscle Shoals, Ala., formed when Zion Godchaux (guitar and vocals) and Russ Randolph (sequencers, groove boxes and turntables) met in 2004. The two had each become interested in music at a young age. Godchaux—the son of the Grateful Dead’s Donna Jean Godchaux—began playing drums when he was just two, and he took up the guitar and writing songs in his teens. Randolph, too, picked up the drums early before taking a keen interest in engineering and producing. And all of this comes through in the band’s recorded soundscapes and live shows, which you can see for yourself when BoomBox (above, performing “Head Change”) plays The Bowery Ballroom tomorrow night.
