End Your Weekend on a High Note

September 23rd, 2011

When seminal ’90s band Pavement took a break in 1999, singer-guitarist Stephen Malkmus wasn’t finished making music—not by a long shot. So the next year he formed a new group, and a few weeks before Stephen Malkmus and the Jicksdebut album was released, they played live for the first time at The Bowery Ballroom. Malkmus spent a considerable amount of time touring with the reunited Pavement in 2010, but that didn’t mean he’d given up on the Jicks. In fact, the band’s fifth album, Mirror Traffic, came out a month ago, which means Stephen Malkmus and the Jicks (above, playing “Stick Figures in Love” for KCRW FM) are back on tour. And you can see them at Webster Hall on Sunday night.
