Night Manager Plays Mercury Lounge Tomorrow Night

May 2nd, 2012

Night Manager’s members—guitarist Tim Angiolillo, drummer Ezana Edwards, singer Caitlin Seager and guitarist David Tassy—who come from as far away as Paris (Seager) and San Francisco (Edwards), first got together at college in 2010 when Edwards encountered Tassy in an acting class and Angiolillo, Edwards and Seager met in a jazz program. Shortly thereafter, the decidedly lo-fi four-piece became part of Brooklyn’s burgeoning DIY movement, playing shows and putting out a self-titled EP. Two more, Pizza Pasta and Ghost, followed last year. And as the quartet’s begun to gain attention, its silky harmonies and fuzzy guitars have been described in a wide variety of ways, but Angiolillo has labeled the sound “doo-wop grunge,” and Tassy calls it “pseudo-intellectual pop-rock.” Decide for yourself when Night Manager (above, doing “Pizza Pasta” for newtonradio.com) plays Mercury Lounge tomorrow alongside Total Slacker and Habibi.
