Kip Moore Brings Country Music to the East Village

March 20th, 2013

After graduating college, where he played basketball and golf, Georgia-born Kip Moore headed to Hawaii to do some songwriting while thinking about his future (and maybe catch a few waves too). What he ultimately decided was to pursue his dream of becoming a singer and songwriter in Nashville. So Moore (above, doing his No. 1 single, “Somethin’ ’Bout a Truck” at the Grand Ole Opry) moved to Music City and began plugging away. He put out a few singles before his debut studio album, Up All Night (stream it below), was released last year. Great American Country says it “carries a unique sound that fits somewhere between ramblin’ man storytelling, hook-driven contemporary country and atmospheric blue-collar rock.” And although he’s winding down his tour now, you can hear his distinct tone in person tomorrow night at Webster Hall.
