Treat Yourself: See the Lonely Forest Tonight at Mercury Lounge

October 22nd, 2013

When John Van Deusen (vocals and keys) wanted to augment his piano-centric music, he joined forces with Braydn Krueger (drums), Tony Ruland (guitar) and Eric Sturgeon (bass) to form the Lonely Forest in a waterfront town in western Washington. They won over fans and critics alike with their 2007 debut full-length, Surviving a Nuclear Winter, a spacey concept album about life in the future built around Van Deusen’s soaring vocals and piano melodies. Since then the Lonely Forest (above, doing “Coyote” live in studio for KEXP FM) have remained busy touring heavily across the Pacific Northwest and making more music. Their most recent album, Adding Up the Wasted Hours (stream it below), was released earlier this month and is sure to increase the band’s ever-growing fan base. Become part of that group after seeing them tonight at Mercury Lounge.
