Drenge Play the Late Show at Mercury Lounge on FridayJanuary 15th, 2014
Three years ago, vocalist-guitarist Eoin Loveless and drummer Rory Loveless teamed up to form Drenge while still just teens, making a winning grunge-inspired blues rock. Their self-titled full-length LP (stream it below) arrived this past summer, prompting the Guardian, in a very positive review, to proclaim: “Gnarly, angst-y rockers Drenge certainly don’t aim to please—but that’s probably a virtue in the era of Mumford & Sons.” The two grew up in the Middle of Nowhere, England, and their album deals with the frustrations of small-town living. But you can still relate to their music even if that doesn’t describe your adolescence. Find out for yourself when Drenge (above, performing “Bloodsports” for Exposed in Session) play the late show at Mercury Lounge on Friday night.
