Craic Festival Brings Six Bands to Mercury Lounge in Two Nights

March 6th, 2014

The nonprofit Fleadh Foundation has brought the best of Irish and Celtic music to New York City since 2004 as part of the Craic Festival. And to that end, Mercury Lounge hosts two action-packed lineups this weekend. Tomorrow night, straight out of Limerick, the comedic hip-hop duo the Rubberbandits (above, their video for “Dad’s Best Friend”)— Blindboy Boatclub and Mr. Chrome—headline and are joined by Dublin alternative-rock quartet the Mighty Stef and the Irish-American punk-folk four-piece the Narrowbacks. On Saturday night, Belfast’s old-timey Peter Wilson—performing as Duke Special (below, doing “Condition” for the Naked Sessions)—is joined by piano-driven rockers Rams’ Pocket Radio and Northern Ireland singer-songwriter Steafán Hanvey.
