Switchfoot Bring New Tunes to Terminal 5 Tomorrow Night

March 28th, 2014

Formed nearly 20 years ago in San Diego, Switchfoot—singer-guitarist Jon Foreman, bassist Tim Foreman, drummer Chad Butler and keyboardist Jerome Fontamillas and guitarist Drew Shirley—initially became known through the Christian-rock scene. But their punk-inflected music burst into the mainstream with their major-label debut, The Beautiful Letdown (stream it below), out in 2003. It went double platinum, and PopMatters noted the LP for its “infectious anthems to contemplate the human condition, good, bad and ugly.” Switchfoot have remained busy ever since, touring and recording. But after several years of exploring different nuances of rock, on their ninth studio album, Fading West (stream it below), out this past January, they return to their pop-punk roots. “The result is an album that at once pushes Switchfoot’s sound forward, while displaying the band’s long-running knack for melodic, catchy pop songs,” according to AllMusic. Out on the road in support of their new tunes, Switchfoot play Terminal 5 tomorrow night.
