Two Nights of Snakehips This Week

June 22nd, 2015

Despite the fact that London producers James Carter and Oliver Lee have remixed the likes of the Weeknd, Banks and Bondax, they’re probably best known for their down-tempo PBR&B electronic duo Snakehips. According to the Guardian, they specialize “in smeary half-speed boom bap and gauzy, glitched-up beat ballads, like a nightmare you keep having in which you argue with your lover in a club where the DJ plays the loveliest deep house, in slow motion. They’re like a disconsolate, decelerated Disclosure.” They released an EP, Forever (Pt. II), earlier this year, and a full-length album is due to arrive next year. But in the meantime, Snakehips (above, their video for “Forever (Pt. II)”) are winding down a North American tour, getting people to shake it all over the continent. So come shake your own hips when they headline Music Hall of Williamsburg tomorrow night and The Bowery Ballroom on Wednesday night. Montreal producer and multi-instrumentalist Pomo and Louie Lastic open both shows.
