The Revivalists Celebrate New Album with Two NYC Shows

July 15th, 2015

New Orleans, as much as any American city—if not more—is a music town. And while most think of brass bands when NOLA comes to mind, the Crescent City is also home to rock bands, like the Revivalists. David Shaw (vocals and guitar), Zack Feinberg (guitar), George Gekas (bass), Ed Williams (pedal-steel guitar), Rob Ingraham (sax), Andrew Campanelli (drums) and Michael Girardot (keys and trumpet) formed their merry troupe eight years ago. They’ve since won over fans with their searing live shows and a pair of well-received albums—their debut full-length, Vital Signs (stream it below), and its follow-up, City of Sound (stream it below), which Offbeat says, “is full of ethereal moments but it remains energetic, down and dirty.” Their third LP, Men Amongst Mountains, arrives on Friday. And ahead of its arrival, the brash roots-rockers (above, doing “Keep Going”) play The Bowery Ballroom tonight, with People’s Blues of Richmond, and Music Hall of Williamsburg tomorrow, with Gedeon Luke & the People.
