Extend Your Weekend with the Eli Young Band at Terminal 5 on SundaySeptember 18th, 2015
More than a decade ago Mike Eli (vocals and guitar) and James Young (guitar and vocals) met when they were freshman roommates at the University of North Texas. Bonding over their shared love of music, they began writing songs and performing acoustically together as a duo. Hoping for something bigger, the two expanded to a full-on electric country band, now with Jon Jones (bass) and Chris Thompson (drums), and the Eli Young Band (above, performing “Even if It Breaks Your Heart”) was born. The quartet gained popularity in the Southwest thanks to constant touring and local airplay of their albums, including last year’s 10,000 Towns (stream it below), which perhaps borrows more from Nashville than Texas. Country Weekly called it “a good effort from an act that keeps on improving with each outing.” Of course, that’s not just the case with the Eli Young Band’s recorded output. They’ve become known across the country as an energetic live band that leaves it all onstage every night. And you can see them do just that on Sunday night at Terminal 5.
