Don’t Miss Twin Shadow Thursday Night at Terminal 5

September 29th, 2015

He was born in the Dominican Republic, grew up in Florida and now makes his home in Brooklyn. George Lewis Jr. grew up listening to a wide range of music, including punk, classic rock and R&B. The expressive singer has been making his mark in the chillwave genre under the name Twin Shadow for close to a decade. His first LP, Forget, came out in 2010, immediately impressing critics. PopMusic called it “a near-flawless album and certainly one of the most impressive debuts we’ve ever seen. It might not change your life, but it will bury itself deep into your brain and make you feel good and warm for a couple of days.” Twin Shadow (above, doing “Old Love/New Love” for WFUV FM) returned with a third full-length, the more stylized Eclipse (stream it below), late last winter. “It’s rarely subtle sonically,” according to Entertainment Weekly, “synths come in bursts, bass lines thump like they’re reaching for the strobe lights—but Lewis’ seductive voice provides an irresistible tether.” Now touring the country, he plays Terminal 5 on Thursday. Brother-sister duo Wild Belle and Helado Negro open the show.
