Go See Catfish and the Bottlemen Tonight at Terminal 5

October 14th, 2015

After forming eight years ago in a seaside resort town in Wales, UK four-piece Catfish and the Bottlemen became known for gritty garage rock and a DIY attitude that’s taken them across Europe, North America and Australia. Van McCann (vocals and guitar), Johnny “Bondy” Bond (guitar), Benji Blakeway (bass) and Bob Hall (drums) signed with acclaimed label Communion Records in 2013, and their debut studio full-length, The Balcony (stream it below), arrived a year later. According to AllMusic, “The Welsh-based outfit’s music is easy on the ear,” and furthermore, “Beneath their poppier melodies and anthemic choruses underlies the DIY garage-rock ethic that inspired their quick ascent, and it’s this mixture that places them firmly between the pop charts and dingy rock club basements.” Winding down an American tour, Catfish and the Bottlmen (above, performing “Kathleen” on The Late Late Show with James Corden) play Terminal 5 tonight.
