The Last Shadow Puppets Return to NYC to Play Terminal 5 Tomorrow

August 1st, 2016

Back in 2008, Arctic Monkeys frontman Alex Turner and the Rascals frontman Miles Kane teamed up with Simian Mobile Disco drummer James Ford—with Owen Pallett handling strings and horns arrangement—to record the lushly symphonic The Age of Understatement (stream it below) as the Last Shadow Puppets. Despite it being a side project, AllMusic said, “Their songs are short and don’t overstay their welcome, and the whole affair is just arty and indulgent enough to make it special. It’s not an overstatement to say that The Age of the Understatement is a likable, accomplished working holiday.” This year, with the addition of Mini MansionsZach Dawes on bass, the Last Shadow Puppets (above, performing “Miracle Aligner” on The Late Late Show with James Corden) returned with their long-awaited sophomore effort, Everything You’ve Come to Expect (stream it below). And according to the Independent, they “are not relying on nostalgia. Instead, they’ve made a relaxedly unhurried album that feels experimental. While not the instant grab fans may be expecting, this assured follow-up—like all good things in life—improves over time.” The Last Shadow Puppets’ North American tour brings them to New York City to play Terminal 5 tomorrow night. Perth, Australia, singer-songwriter Cameron Avery opens.
