Sam Gellaitry Comes to Music Hall of Williamsburg on Saturday

August 4th, 2016

Scottish DJ and producer Sam Gellaitry makes the kind of club-ready electronic music that can’t be narrowed down to just one genre. And despite the fact that he’s still a teenager, Gellaitry has toured extensively across Europe thanks to a pair of EPs, Short Stories and then Escapism (stream it below), about which Pigeons and Planes proclaimed, “Gellaitry explores a wide range of moods across the project’s five songs, often doing so with the same track,” while also noting that “Futuristic synths suited for a tasteful pop smash coexist with foregone flutes, electronically modified xylophones and flamenco guitar.” And with Escapism II on its way, Gellaitry plays Music Hall of Williamsburg on Saturday night. As an added bonus, another musician not pinned down by just one genre, Baltimore’s Chris McClenney, opens the show with “music for the soul.”
