Guitarist Dan Balis and keyboardist Eugene Cho met at Vassar College and started making house music together under the name Escort about 10 years ago. Initially it was just a studio project, but they sensed they were on to something. And while it’s disco music, it remains contemporary rather than feeling like a throwback. One thing that really sets Escort (above, covering “Dancer”) apart from other dance-music purveyors is the lack of samples and computers in their live shows. Instead, Balis and Cho front a 17-piece band, making them a live act not to miss. So don’t. See them tomorrow at Webster Hall.
