A Night of Country Music in the Big City

November 14th, 2012

More than a decade ago Mike Eli (vocals and guitar) and James Young (guitar and vocals) met when they were freshman roommates at the University of North Texas. Bonding over their shared love of music, they began writing songs and performing acoustically together as a duo. Hoping for something bigger, the two expanded to a full-on electric country band, now with Jon Jones (bass) and Chris Thompson (drums), and the Eli Young Band was born. The quartet gained popularity in the Southwest due to constant touring and local airplay of their albums, including last year’s Life at Best. But make no mistake, the Eli Young Band (above, playing “Crazy Girl” on Late Show with David Letterman) aren’t just some regional band. In fact you can see them on Friday night at Terminal 5.

Another Reason to Celebrate

March 2nd, 2012

Sometimes all you need is a reason to party, like St. Patrick’s Day, Mardi Gras or Arbor Day. So you’ll be happy to know we’ve got your next excuse to cut loose, on Saturday when Terminal 5 hosts the Fourth Annual Salute to Texas Independence Day with a pretty festive lineup, including Pat Green (above, playing “It Feels Like It Should” for Opry Live), the Eli Young Band, the Randy Rogers Band and the Josh Abbott Band. The show starts early, at 7 p.m., which means there will be a full night of merrymaking. And as a bonus, any patron (21 or older) wearing an article of clothing with a logo from a Texas college on it will receive a complimentary drink. A 176th birthday party has never been so much fun. Come out and celebrate for yourself.
