Perhaps you already know Laetitia Sadier as the lead singer of cult favorite Stereolab. But when the English post-rock group went on hiatus beginning in 2009, the French chanteuse wasn’t prepared to just sit back and do nothing. Instead, she put out a solo album, The Trip, the following year. Despite the singer’s experience and previous success with Stereolab, Pitchfork said: “Her first album under her own name still feels like a coming-out party.” Now Sadier (above, performing “Natural Child” for DropTune Media) is back with a second solo effort, Silencio. Although the album has a political bent, BBC Music says it “makes politics sound like the sexiest thing in the world.” Not too shabby. See her play the late show at Mercury Lounge tomorrow night.
