For nearly two decades English electronic musician Tom Jenkinson has been creating experimental drum-and-bass music as Squarepusher. And despite making dance music, his jazz influences—he grew up listening to Miles Davis and Charlie Parker—are obvious in his work. Jenkinson quickly made the move from anonymity to big-time player with the release of several mid-’90s EPs and 1998’s Music Is Rotted One Note. Since then, Squarepusher (above, performing for the Creators Project) has been filling big rooms with dancing people. And following the arrival of his latest, Ufabulum, this past spring, Squarepusher and his amazing light show have returned to these shores to play for the first time in six years. So go see him tonight at Terminal 5.
