Three Nights of Lotus

February 2nd, 2011

Lotus, an instrumental band originally out of Indiana, is coming our way for the next three nights. The four-piece—Mike Greenfield (drums), Jesse Miller (bass and samples), Luke Miller (guitar and keys) and Mike Rempel (guitar)—plays a pair of two-set shows at Mercury Lounge tomorrow and Friday, which is sold out, and they’ll be throwing down on Saturday night at Terminal 5. Since self-releasing the now-out-of-print Vibes in 2002, it hasn’t been easy to pinpoint their sound. Taking a little bit of this and a little bit of that, Lotus (above, playing “Nematode”) has embraced electronica, funk, jazz and rock, plus other genres. And due to their improvisational style, they never play the same show twice. Find out for yourself in person!
