Live from Daryl’s House, Live from The Wellmont Theatre

April 9th, 2012

Daryl Hall shot to stardom in the ’70s as the lead vocalist of Hall & Oates. The duo mashed up genres in performing their own brand of “rock and soul” and pumped out massive hits like “Kiss on My List,” “I Can’t Go for That (No Can Do),” “Maneater,” “Out of Touch,” “Private Eyes” and “Rich Girl.” Not one to rest on his laurels, since 2007, Hall has been the host of Live from Daryl’s House, which he says, “Shows what musicians do hanging out together, with nobody watching, normally, and the stories they tell and the way they relate to each other when they’re not trying to prove anything.” The show—initially only broadcast on the Web but is now also in syndication on TV—has welcomed a wide range of guests, from Smokey Robinson and Booker T. to Cee Lo Green and Grace Potter. And in celebration of five years and 50 episodes, Hall is taking the show on the road. See him (above, playing “Hot Fun in the Summertime” with Sharon Jones) with the very talented Sharon Jones and Allen Stone on Wednesday night at The Wellmont Theatre.
