Two Nights, Two Gallants

September 24th, 2012

Almost 20 years ago, Adam Stephens (vocals and guitar) and Tyson Vogel (drums and vocals) started making music together at the ripe old age of 12. Things got more official nine years later, in 2002, when they began performing bluesy folk rock around San Francisco as Two Gallants, playing some of their first shows at BART stations. Over the next five years, the duo put out a couple of EPs and three LPs. But since then, Two Gallants (above, doing “Halcyon Days” for KEXP FM) went on a hiatus as Stephens and Vogel each released solo albums. Now they’re back, a half-decade later, playing Outside Lands last month and releasing their fourth studio album, musically more muscular than their previous work, The Bloom and the Blight (stream it here) a few weeks ago. See them tonight at The Bowery Ballroom and tomorrow night at Music Hall of Williamsburg.
