Kick Off Thanksgiving with Kid Koala Tonight at Music Hall

November 21st, 2012

Kid Koala was born Eric San in British Columbia. And despite being classically trained on the piano, he took up the turntable while a student at Montreal’s McGill University and self-distributed his debut mixtape, Scratchcratchratchatch. He eventually signed with the British record label Ninja Tune and began to be known for his choice of samples (old cartoons, comedy sketches, bodily functions) and solid sense of humor. He’s since put out three LPs, including this year’s 12 Bit Blues (stream it below), which SPIN labels a “scratch-pop masterpiece” and “the turntablist version of going acoustic.” And Kid Koala brings his Vinyl Vaudeville show—featuring “music, dancing girls, puppets, turntables, robots, drinks and parlor games” to Music Hall of Williamsburg tonight.
