Sam Sparro Will Have You Dancing Tomorrow Night

November 29th, 2012

He was born in Australia and earned fame in the U.K. (thanks to the thumping single “Black and Gold”), but now, after releasing his second album, the soul- and funk-inspired Return to Paradise, over the summer, Sam Sparro is touring the United States. The singer and multi-instrumentalist is an old school crooner (think: R&B and gospel) with modern appeal (see: high-tech visuals and contemporary dance production). Sparro (above, performing “Black and Gold” on Later … with Jools Holland) was once described as “like Marvin Gaye hangin’ with LCD Soundsystem,” so it makes sense that he’s best known for is his epic live shows, which works out great as you can see him tomorrow at Webster Hall.
