Armed with a New Album, Eels Play Webster Hall Tomorrow NightFebruary 28th, 2013
Singer-songwriter Mark Oliver Everett (often simply known as E), formed Eels more than 15 years ago. The band’s debut album, the well-received Beautiful Freak, with its post-grunge pop melodies, came out in 1996. And ever since, a rotating cast of musicians has joined E onstage and in the studio. The one constant, of course, has been the singer-songwriter mining the complications and turmoil of his personal life to use as source material. And Wonderful, Glorious (stream it below), released earlier this month, is no different. The A.V. Club says it’s what E has “done best over the past 20 years: air out his messed-up life for the whole world to hear.” Watch Eels, above, performing “That’s Not Her Way” on Late Show with David Letterman, and then go see them play—alongside Nicole Atkins and Puddles Pity Party—Webster Hall tomorrow night.
