Creepoid and Marriages Come to Music Hall of WilliamsburgJuly 23rd, 2015
Making their own grungy mix of noisy shoegaze and melodic pop, Anna Troxell (vocals and bass), Sean Miller (vocals and guitar), Nick Kulp (guitar) and Patrick Troxell (drums) formed Creepoid five years ago in Philadelphia. They’ve since moved to Savannah, Ga., and their third LP, Cemetery Highrise Slum (stream it below), came out about a month ago. According to Consequence of Sound, “Cemetery Highrise Slum matches its dark title and then some, full of pain, angst, and grime.” Creepoid (above, their video for “Dried Out”) are currently out on the road with Marriages.
When the L.A. post-rock band Red Sparowes went on hiatus, two of its members, Emma Ruth Rundle (vocals and guitar) and Greg Burns (bass), teamed up with Andrew Clinco (drums) to form Marriages (above, doing “Liar” for Sessions from the Box). Combining dark rock with heady atmospherics, the three-piece put out their acclaimed debut full-length, Salome (stream it below), earlier this year. NME said, “the genre-mashing Los Angeles trio have finally delivered their debut album, and it wails…. The result is a maelstrom of noise, both ominous and ecstatic, doomy minor chords and cloud-parting major riffs.” See Creepoid and Marriages tomorrow night at Music Hall of Williamsburg.
