Jarryd James Is One Not to Miss on Monday at The Bowery Ballroom

August 7th, 2015

Up-and-coming singer-songwriter Jarryd James quickly made a name for himself in his native Australia with the release of a pair of buzz-generating singles earlier this year— becoming known for a minimalist take on progressive R&B and ambient sounds with a touch of soul. “I like to do things in an understated way,” he says. “I’d rather not give too much away.” James (above, doing “Do You Remember” in studio for Triple J) toured in support of Broods and Angus & Julia Stone before launching his own sold-out headlining tour in Australia. His debut studio album, Thirty One, arrives in September, but you won’t have to wait that long to see him live because Jarryd James plays The Bowery Ballroom on Monday night. Energetic Brooklyn duo Secret Weapons open the show.
