Holly Golightly Plays the Late Show Tonight at Mercury Lounge

October 27th, 2015

Holly Golightly was in several English bands before she decided to go solo with the release of The Good Things (stream it below) in 1995. Ever since, she’s remained busy with a variety of projects, working with others and by herself and continuing to release music—usually rooted in bluesy garage rock and a sense of humor. This year, Golightly (above, doing “Devil Do”) has been pretty busy. Her first solo album in 10 years, Slowtown Now! (stream it below), came out this past summer, which AllMusic reports “blends the slinky and the gritty in just the right proportions.” And working with her partner, Lawyer Dave, as Holly Golightly and the Brokeoffs, another LP, Coulda Woulda Shoulda, just came out last week. Per Glide magazine, “When Golightly and Dave come together, their energy and chemistry is undeniable. They are funny and twisted and twangy, and the complement each other like old friends.” See them play the late show tonight at Mercury Lounge.
