Cherub Kick Off New Tour Friday Night at Terminal 5

February 3rd, 2016

Jordan Kelley (vocals and guitar) and Jason Huber (guitar, vocals and production) met while studying music at Middle Tennessee State and bonded over their shared love of funk, synth pop and ’80s post-disco dance music. And so what was their logical next step? To form a band, obviously. Before they’d released a full-length album, word of Cherub first spread thanks to appearances at festivals like SXSW and Bonnaroo. Their first LP, Mom & Dad (stream it below), came out in 2012. Consequence of Sound compared them to Chromeo and called the material “ear candy, worth of repeat listens and karaoke sessions.” After releasing more EPs, party-loving Cherub (above, doing “Doses and Mimosas”) returned with their follow-up full-length, Year of the Caprese (stream it below), in 2014, which Rolling Stone called one “of the year’s better efforts in its precise combination of intelligence, humor, rhythm and hooks galore.” Out on the road again, Cherub kick off a brand-new tour Friday night at Terminal 5. Gibbz and Mike Floss open the show.
