Beacon Bring New Music to The Bowery Ballroom on Thursday Night

February 9th, 2016

After meeting while studying art at Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, Thomas Mullarney and Jacob Gossett formed Beacon, a downtempo electronic duo with R&B flourishes—a sweet sound with an undercurrent of darkness—five years ago. Their debut LP, The Ways We Separate (stream it below), arrived in 2013. AllMusic made comparisons to Junior Boys, Soft Cell and Eurythmics and added: “Cunningly sequenced, The Way We Separate is exceptionally fluid and tightly bound, made for compulsive listening with no weak links.” After a long tour and another EP, Beacon (above, their new video for “IM U”) have returned with their sophomore full-length, Escapements (stream it below), just released last Friday. And with their new tour kicking off tomorrow, Beacon play The Bowery Ballroom on Thursday night. Blondes and Natasha Kmeto open the show.
