Sydney Singer-Songwriter Matt Corby Plays Terminal 5 on Thursday

June 13th, 2016

Raspy-voiced Australian singer-songwriter Matt Corby first burst onto the scene at home as runner-up on the fifth season of Australian Idol. Since then, his profile has only risen thanks to the release of five EPs before his debut full-length, Telluric (stream it below), finally arrived this past March, earning considerable plaudits across the world. Paste magazine calls it a “resplendent take on soul music. Spiked with muted touches of rock and other intangibles, Telluric establishes Corby as far more than a genre stylist and even stamps him as a visionary to watch right out of the gate.” And the Line of Best Fit adds: “His perfectionism has done him proud, as Telluric is a masterful glimpse into the mind of a man who has much to say, and who says it beautifully.” Find out how just beautifully when Corby (above, doing “Wrong Woman” live at Paste Studios) plays Terminal 5 on Thursday night. Local duo Overcoats open the show.
