October 26th, 2017

B-Real (vocals), Sen Dog (vocals), DJ Muggs (turntables and production) and Eric Bobo (drums and percussion) have been making music together since releasing a self-titled Cypress Hill album in 1991. And as an added bonus, The House List is giving away two tickets. Enter below to try to win. Make sure to include your full name, email address, which show you’re trying to win tickets to (Cypress Hill, 10/30) and a brief message explaining what you love most about the band. Come Shake it with Modestep Tonight at Webster Hall

March 27th, 2013

A pair of producing brothers, Josh (vocals and keys) and Tony (turtables and guitar) Friend, formed Modestep in London three years ago. They knew they were onto something when an early song, “Feel Good,” got millions of YouTube views in just a few weeks. That track became the duo’s first single, placing in the Top 40 of the UK Singles Chart. But wanting a bigger sound, especially live, the brothers Friend welcomed Matthew Curtis (drums) and Nick Tsang (guitar) and began touring and making a cool, rocking electronic dubstep together. Their debut album, Evolution Theory (stream it below), came out last month. BBC Music calls it “animated and unrelenting,” and despite the plaudits for their recorded work, the respected critics go on to say, “The stage is where Modestep come to life.” And on the heels of launching a U.S tour earlier this month, Modestep (above, playing “Praying for Silence” for Virgin Red Room) take the stage tonight at Webster Hall. Plus, if that weren’t enough, DJ Muggs of Cypress Hill is opening the show.
