Catch Disco Orchestra Escort at The Bowery Ballroom Tonight

May 29th, 2015

Guitarist Dan Balis and keyboardist Eugene Cho met at Vassar College and then began making house music together under the name Escort nearly 10 years ago. Initially it was just a studio project, but they sensed they were on to something bigger. And while it’s disco music, it remains contemporary rather than feeling like a throwback. Something that sets Escort apart from other dance-music purveyors is the lack of samples and computers in their live shows. Instead, Balis and Cho lead a big, talented band—fronted by Adeline Michèle—making them a live act not to miss. So dance your way into the weekend when Escort (above, doing “Cocaine Blues”) play The Bowery Ballroom tonight. My Midnight Heart opens the show.

An Escort Dance Party Comes to The Bowery Ballroom Tomorrow

August 16th, 2013

Guitarist Dan Balis and keyboardist Eugene Cho met at Vassar College and started making house music together under the name Escort about 10 years ago. Initially it was just a studio project, but they sensed they were on to something bigger. And while it’s disco music, it remains contemporary rather than feeling like a throwback. One thing that really sets Escort apart from other dance-music purveyors is the lack of samples and computers in their live shows. Instead, Balis and Cho front a 17-piece band, making them a live act not to miss. So don’t.
