Peaches Is Just Alright

December 10th, 2010

Merrill Nisker was born and raised in Canada, and she took a liking to Andrew Lloyd Weber and Tim Rice’s Jesus Christ Superstar. The musical interested her because “it tells an entire story without spoken text, only with vocals, in the style of a rock opera.” Of course, that doesn’t explain everything, you see. Because somewhere along the way Nisker became Peaches, an electronic performance artist whose work often features sexually explicit themes, like “Fuck the Pain Away” and her albums Fatherfucker and Impeach My Bush. But Peaches is more than just dirty words, which you can discover for yourself when she brings her one-woman show, Peaches Christ Superstar (check out the trailer, above), to Music Hall of Williamsburg on Sunday.
